The cinema of Kubelka is like a piece of crystal, or another object of nature: it does not resemble what has been produced by man. One could easily imagine that it could belong to the organic treasures of nature.

Snow Crystals is a composition made from stereographic images of snowflakes collected from the web, animated with methods reminiscent of structural cinema. Snow is usually regarded as a soft element, bringing a peaceful, luminous atmosphere or prone to recall playful memories. For Physicists, it is also a crystal and nearly a “black body” in longwave radiation, absorbing all electromagnetic radiation it comes into contact with. Drawing on this paradox, this film exposes the viewer’s eye to the black/white, soft/crystalline, nature of snow.
